Had the mini fish meal, good sized portion and extremely tasty. Proper mushy peas! We sat outside and the staff bought it out to us as it was just cooked, lovely experience

Discovered this place when we had a walk into Matlock Bath in the summer.
It's fantastic to know they serve gluten free chips at any time, rather than it being on a specific day.
The staff were pleasant and sorted out two different requests (one gluten free, one Muggle), with plenty of salt and vinegar available. My wife had gravy on hers, but I'm unsure if a GF option is offered. Next time we go I'll find out and ask about sausages and other things that may have changed.
They have a sit-down café / restaurant if you fancy a more relaxed meal with proper plates and cutlery, with an outside seating area.
We had ours to take out and it was enjoyable to walk along the side of the river with a tray of chips - just like the old days!- Service

You should really enjoy this drive. The verdant bucolic forest is a delight to view as you drive up to Matlock. And you can point out the different types of trees to your children. Common Ash, Oak, Poplar, European Beech, Sycamore Maple, Crack Willow, etc. are just a few species you can point out.
Riverside Fish Bar is amongst the most "popular" in Matlock Bath, as you can see. The staff are super friendly and will go out of their way to help you. Try the Haddock, Chips and Mushy peas. Delicious!- Service

10/10 food. Our little girl has coeliacs disease so it was nice to see a GF fish and chips options on this menu. After walking up and down for ages and being told everywhere else had no GF options and that the chips were also fried with everything else we finally found this place. The GF fish did not disappoint and our little girl said it was the best GF batter she had ever had. It was so light and crisp. The chips were also very nice. Would definitely recommend. Thank you.- Food

It was great to find a chip shop/café that does gluten free, poached cod! Beautifully cooked and a generous size! My partner had battered fish n chips with curry sauce - massive fish! A warm, friendly welcome on arrival. They have a bar, so alcoholic drinks available too. Toilets available upstairs. Great decor! Would recommend a visit.

I went here on a warm Saturday with my family, what I liked most about this fish bar was the quick output even when busy. The fish was delicious and a healthy portion size for each one we bought. I would definitely recommend, I'd say it's my favourite place to go in Matlock.
I went to this fish and chips shop in Matlock bath they are very welcoming when you walk in until you leave the shop i have been there twice and I really appreciate what they did because it was a very hot day and they were giving out cold water in cups to there customers i will be going back to this shop very soon as I'm be going to do some filming for youtube channel about Matlock bath in a couple of weeks time.
- Parking
- There is street parking which is free but there is a car park about 200yds away from the shop where you can pay for longer parking as street park is only 1hrs it is very busy in Matlock bath at weekends as there is alot of tourists from different areas in town.

Visited before watching the Matlock illuminations, considering the fish bar was full there wasn’t a queue and we were served very efficiently. One lady took the order and another served the food. As soon as we had paid for the food, it was there waiting for us. The food was piping hot and fish batter was lovely and crisp. The chips were very well cooked too and not at all greasy. We put our own salt and vinegar on. One thing I could say was the large chips was only enough for 2 people. Maybe it could be a larger portion ? All in all a very pleasant visit.- Service

The food was really nice but, the tables weren't very clean, although they were busy. We had to ask for serviettes as they didn't give them to us. As a restaurant they could offer a knife and fork, as a 1 plastic fork isn't adequate to eat a big fish with. Its a bit expensive. If had we walked a bit further on, we would have got fish and chips a lot cheaper and a knife a fork to eat with.
